“I discovered Katie and MMHL at the just the right time in my life. It had been two years since having my children – I was struggling to find balance and be healthy. I wanted to lose the last of the weight, find a fitness routine that fit my new schedule, while working full time, maintaining a family, and all the rest that comes with this time in a person’s life.

I started doing Cross Fit after my daughter was born but still didn’t see all the results I wanted.
It was through Cross Fit that I met Kate and subsequently participated in her Whole30 group coaching program and then eventually her Mindful Method for Healthy Living program.
With Whole 30 I learned so much about food quality from the get go; the healthiest foods to eat as well as which to avoid and most importantly why!
I gained confidence in my food choices and felt amazing.
I was challenged by eliminating some foods that were stumbling blocks for me but it was a good challenge within a manageable amount of time. I did see results in my body composition as well as my overall health and well-being (skin brighter, sleeping better, confidence). Eating good food just makes you feel good!
However, I had found myself swinging on a pendulum…
One month doing Whole30, eating super clean and feeling great, the next month going to the opposite extreme; eating all the things that were “weren’t allowed” on Whole30 and feeling crappy. I decided to commit to a change and signed up for Kate’s Mindful Method for Healthy Living program. That’s what took things to the next level for me.
Mindful Method taught me balance.
One of the first lessons that struck me is that what we put in our mouths is a choice.When we’re always focused on what we can or can’t, should or shouldn’t eat we usually end up in failure and with a stronger desire for the forbidden item…often overeating it – hence the pendulum. Sounds pretty obvious but it was a game-changer for me.
Narrowing in and visualizing my goals helped me to stay focused on where I wanted to go with my health and weight loss intentions.
It felt very freeing to remove the judgment and shame I always experienced when it came to eating.
Changing my mindset to allow myself a treat now and again, to really enjoy it and not feel guilty was actually invigorating! It was freeing to know I wasn’t missing out if I chose not to…that I was making a choice that felt good for my body.
It made me feel proud and in control.
Kate brought so many aspects of health into this program it was like drinking from a fire hose, from learning the basics of nutrition, to our relationship with food, to things like meditation and personal development. Her weekly phone calls and recorded content were invaluable resources that offered support, vision and encouragement.
I plan to access this content and listen to them again and again as needed. What an awesome ongoing resource!
I think it would be great if she were to create a weekly meditation podcast focusing on health and nutrition. Something her clients and followers could use to stay focused and utilize through their ongoing transformations.

Eating real-foods has changed my life, plain and simple.
Summer of 2012 I decided it was time to take action; my weight had spiraled out of control to a whopping 300 pounds. Over the next six months I managed to take off 80lbs simply by watching my portion size and making ‘healthier’ choices. I was absolutely still eating a Standard American Diet and was always terrified that I would mess up and the weight would return. Through this journey Katie was a constant source of encouragement, and finally in January of 2013 I took the leap, took Katie’s advice and became PALEO! Me, an Italian woman who once spent 5 years as a vegetarian had gone Paleo. Some people don’t call themselves Paleo; they refer to it as their lifestyle choice which is far more accurate but… I am Paleo. I eat REAL FOOD!
Best decision EVER! No joke. I found so much more than a weight loss plan. I found a plan for my life, a diet that could allow me to be the best version of myself. The first weeks of eating real-foods were absolutely a challenge; this is when I needed Katie the most. Detoxing your body of all the sugar I was (often unintentionally) eating made me a grump, made me tired, and I’m sure had some wishing I’d stop this ‘ridiculousness’. Having Katie’s support I didn’t waiver and very soon saw the results!
Weight loss was still my biggest goal, but suddenly my not-so-sexy adult acne was gone. The downright painful eczema I’d been dealing with for years was gone. My sleeping habits changed drastically, I began falling asleep quicker and actually staying asleep. I was elated! So many benefits, why on earth hadn’t I done this sooner?! Then I started to see the biggest benefit of all…
About a year prior I had weaned off of anti-anxiety and anti-depression medication that I lived on for most of my twenties. I was living a constant struggle learning to deal with my emotions that I frankly just hadn’t been feeling. I was crying at the drop of a hat, quick to argue, more sensitive than a 13 year old girl. I was awful. Changing my diet gave me a mental clarity I have never known. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still on the emotional side, but now I can manage it! My body no longer goes up and down emotionally based on the food I eat, but based on actual happenings in my life… that I can understand deal with. Turns out, removing a whole lot of stuff my body just doesn’t know what to do with is really great for my body and mind.
I’ve now lost a total of 140 pounds!
I’m only 10 away from my goal of 150 pounds lost, this is half my body weight!
Katie has been a constant. Living a healthy life for herself and giving that to her family is truly her passion. She educates and shares not because she thinks I should change who I am but because she cares about me. Late night texts about bacon, excitement over a new recipe, commiserating after a weekend of cheesecake (my recent cheat of choice). She is a support more than anything because she lives and breathes this, it is a part of who she is, she would never suggest I eat or don’t eat something unless she is right there beside me. Having Katie as a support through this journey has made it about so much more than weight loss; she has shown me this is a journey about health and happiness. Living a real-foods lifestyle can be a bit of work, first learning what I really can and can’t eat and then… eating this way certainly requires more work. Katie has again showed me through her actions how possible this is. She manages to work, attend school, raise twin boys, keep up with a husband with a hectic schedule AND feed everyone great! If she can manage, it’s time I get over myself and realize I can do it too. I don’t think my bone broth will ever taste as good as hers, but I’ll keep on trying!
My weight struggle started when I was doing fertility treatments to conceive my second child. Going through secondary infertility was an emotional stress which made me eat more and add weight on top of what I gained from the hormones and injections I was doing.
Through our infertility treatments it was found I had PCOS which itself is associated with excess weight. We went through 3 IUIs and on our way to start IVF I found out we were pregnant naturally! When I did get pregnant I was heavier than I was had been when I was 9 months pregnant with my first child. (But at the time I didn’t care, I was pregnant!)
After I had my son the weight stayed on and I needed to do something about it. I tried weight watchers twice but never had too much luck. One blessing I did get through my infertility journey was meeting Katie! I was talking to her about my weight and other medical problems I was experiencing and she told me about the ‘real-foods’ lifestyle.
From that day forward my life changed. We cleaned out our fridge of processed foods and went grocery shopping! Katie told me the do’s and don’ts of eating real-foods, shared tips and tricks, and resources in the form of recipes, websites and books.
After one week the weight began to fall off and I began to feel so much better. The bloat was gone I had more energy! I actually enjoyed cooking and reading again. Katie was always my go-to if I had any questions, frustrations, or just needed a pick me up!
I am grateful for meeting Katie and the life-changing, eye-opening lifestyle she introduced me to! Amazingly my PCOS seems to have been “cured.” I used to maybe have 2 cycles a year, now I have regular monthly cycles, without any medications or other interventions other than my dietary changes! My doctor is amazed. I have currently loss 21 pounds and I just feel so much better!
I never ate food that was good for me just food that was quick. My wife came home from work one day to tell me about the real-foods lifestyle she heard about from Katie! She was very excited about it so I thought we should give it a try. I love eating meat so any diet where you can do that I was game!
Right away I could feel the benefits. I felt lighter and felt healthy.
You never realize how bad you feel when you always eat fast food until you switch to a healthier diet.
Since starting a real-foods lifestyle we have also been more involved in the quality food we eat, from grass-fed meats and avoiding GMOs, which has become important to us.
I have lost 30 lbs eating real-foods and I know this is a lifestyle I will stick with!
From the perspective of a couple that has always tried to eat healthy, a “Real-Food diet” fits us perfectly. Perfectly, except for the fact that “diet” is a misnomer – it’s actually a lifestyle For years I had tried to be “healthy” (ha!) with my Greek yogurt craze, a fat-free salad dressing era, a vegan period, a protein bar phase…and, of course, none of them were satisfying me. In fact, I felt empty and sick. So I would fill my cravings with sweets and a compensatory work-out, and repeat.
While weight loss was never my goal, my husband assured me that his way of eating was healthy because no one ever got fat by eating chicken, fish, vegetables and fruit. He lives by the simple fact that BREAD = SUGAR and SUGAR = BAD. In his words, if you want to be toned in addition to that, work out. If not, you’ll still be just fine if you eat like this. I didn’t believe him. Not until I started noticing that my healthiest friend, Katie, wasn’t eating Greek yogurt, fat-free salad dressings, or any of the “health” foods I had previously known, yet she was looking better and better…AND she has twin toddlers! I had to know her secret! It was REAL-FOODS!
Katie has been our biggest cheerleader, advocate, and provider of resources as we made the transition to eating 100% real-foods! Most of all, she is an inspiration because she practices what she preaches every day. Without her advice, encouragement, and example, the transition from “eating a real-food diet” into a “living a real-food lifestyle” wouldn’t have happened, or even made sense to me. I credit her for helping us achieve a monumental shift toward real health in every sense of the word.
